Tools

Moving to a new city, this single lady has been struggling setting things up!!!

Man, I’m glad that I have my Dad, four brothers, and eight uncles! I sure do need ’em.

In my singleness, I have been slowly learning about tools.  This has not been a voluntary exercise, I have been required to do so … it has definitely not been easy.

It’s funny, I’ve got some tools that I have had stored away that I’ve never used! Lol. Others that I use, but use improperly.

Along these lines, the Lord has shown me that He as given us many tools that He wants us to use in our lives.  Unlike the tools encased in metal, plastic, and rubber,  when it comes to these types of tools, we dare not use the tools at all, determined to rely only on one’s body instead.  Doing this will result in many broken nails, Ouch!! We dare not use the tools inappropriately.

Here are some of the tools that we have been given that we must seek the Lord to use properly:

Money

Social Media

Vehicle

Residence

Technology

Human Body

Mind

The Internet

… Details on using these tools properly will be added to a post yet to come!

Weapons of Mass Construction

A few moons ago, I noticed a particular post where someone was venting on Facebook … Complaining and venting publicly about someone.  They were using their weapons (their mouths and words) as a weapon to make the person hurt (backbiting, or gossiping, and/or slander).

Take note: We have weapons in our mouths.

We can choose to allow them to serve as

weapons of mass destruction

OR

weapons of mass construction.

As we prepare for work, we put on work boots. They can be used to protect your feet. They can also be used to crush the dreams of a co-worker.

We also have a hard hat. It’s typically used to protect our heads from things that may fall from above. It could also be used to throw at someone, or to knock over their lunch or their drink.

When you arrive at work, you have a few machines that you have been trusted to operate.

Each of the machines are used to perform certain functions to build on your job site. They are heavy duty machines and can be used to do the daily work of a single human in just a few seconds.  It can also be used to destroy a work site as well.

If your mouth were one of these machines, would you be flooding people with guilt and reminders of their past, or would you heap coals of fire upon their heads?

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof  (Proverbs 18:21). I beseech you to purposely choose to say good things. Sort through your mind and find something good to say. Be constructive. Be kind. Be loving. Choose to treat others the way you want Christ to treat you.

Get in the pattern of thinking before you speak.

… what should I say? What could I say that would build them up?

If this were me, what would I need someone to tell me?

Get into the pattern of reflecting on what you said to someone, through the mind of Christ.

… what did I say? What could I have said that would build them up?

If that were me, what would I have needed someone to tell me?

Did I edify them? Did I encourage them? Did I do what Jesus would have done?

Choose life.

Choose weapons of mass construction.

Sit Where You Can Hear

One of the most important things that we can do is hear from the Lord.
Young or old,
In the battle or about to walk into one…
It is important to hear from the Lord.

Knowing this, make sure that you are not setting by that friend who likes to smack her gum or that lady who always complains (about everything).

A lifelong student, I have had to strategically sit close to the front; close to my instructor-
I need to hear what I need to do.
I need to know what I need to know.
I need to know what my instructor expects of me.

And as I learn to yearn and listen for the voice of my Lord, I refuse to ask Ray-Ray if I can I look at his notes after class.
I want to listen and take my own, sure that I have heard from the Most High God.
Futher, I need to be physically located where I will not be distracted by people:
Who don’t care if they pass the test or not
Who don’t mind repeating this class next semester
Who don’t have goals or parents who have high expectations.

I need you Lord.
Please order my steps in your word!
Teach me, help to move myself away, away from the noise and hear from you.
