The Remnant

Glass Bottle Remnant

Over the weekend, I heard a young lady express her sentiment towards someone, describing how she could damage them with the remnant of a glass bottle. (I know this sounds kinda ghetto or crazy, but hear me out.)
Sometimes, it can be lonely or a little saddening to be alone, or to be a ‘left over’ but after hearing her share about ‘beating someone up’ with the bottle, I began to think of this in spiritual terms.

Don’t feel bad about what you have done, been through, or have otherwise experienced.
God broke you and positioned you to be sharp and gave you the ability to use what he has given you to do His work!

If the remnant will stay focused and sharp, at our post, we are more powerful as the remnant, as compared to the whole bottle.

We may be less than we used to be in some regards, but we are more dangerous and stronger than we used to be in the eyes of God!

You Ain’t Better Than Me

How many times have you heard someone say, You ” … ain’t no better than me… ”

better than me

I’ve seen where people at work, or in families struggle and strive to ‘better than’ each other.

I’ve seen where parents don’t want their children to be better than them:

A mother strive to be better than her daughter.

A father strive to be better than his son.

But I’m so humbled and grateful that the Lord wants us to do greater things than He:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

If e shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 14:12-14

… And you know what else, He has empowered us to do so!

I Was Running

International star athlete, Forrest, Forrest Gump, popularized the statement, ‘I was running’ in the film Forrest Gump.

As I reflect on the film, I thought of many races and games, and a couple of marathons I’ve ran. I think of challenges that I’ve faced and the things that I have been faced with.

I never want to get to the place where all I can say is I was running.  I want to be forever in the place where I run and move forward.

Progress is one of the most significant things that we can see in life.

Think about it. Progress, even a minuscule amount of it, can make the difference between you quitting, starting over again, staying at the same pace, or increasing speed.

Progress is important, when we assess the situation and are certain that we are progressing, we propel forward.

– Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain (I Corinthians 9:24).

– I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all (Ecclesiastes 9:11).

I never want to speak of running this race in past tense.

Morover, I declare and I decree:

I will run the race that is set before me diligently (Hebrews 12:1).

I will press toward the mark (Philipians 4:13).

I will run, run, run, until the Lord says, ‘Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant’

Divine Strategy

With much spiritual activity happening right now, we need divine strategy to survive.  This morning, I pray a prayer for divine strategy.

Lord Jesus,

Pour out your spirit and give us divine strategy. Your ways are not like ours. Your ways are far past finding out. You know the end from the beginning. You are Alpha and Omega. You love us and you have our best interest in mind.

Tell us:

What do we need to do today?

Where should we go?

Who should we date?

Who should be marry?

How should I organize my business?

How should I go about my personal affairs?

How can I monetize my hobby?

How/when do I need to publish my materials?

What is the best method that I need to go about marketing my project?

How do I train my sales team?

How do I attract the right clients?

How do I balance work and my personal endevours?

How should I spend my spare time?

I need your divine strategy so that I will never waste my time.

Break the Ceiling

Sometimes, I’ve felt like there was a big thick piece of glass over my head.
It’s thin enough for me to see everything on the other side but too thick to easily break.

Once broken, I can climb through and if I am careful not to fall back through. I break the next ceiling and continue to ascend.

On the other hand, because I can see through it, it’s decieving … it’s easy to just look at it, and grow complacent.

No room for growth.
No room for advancement.
No room at all.

Since I noticed it there, I would periodically throw something up there to break it. What I was doing was not really any good, dedicated effort.

As a woman of God, I must make an effort to break the ceiling that tries to form and reform over my head.
We are not to conform to this world, but rather to be transformed by the renewing our minds (Romans 12:12).

Go Before Me, Lord God

I cannot say that I understand exactly what God is doing right now, but I believe that the Lord is asking me to pray a specific type of prayer.   A prayer of preparation.

Because of this, I am sharing this with you.

Lord,

I come to you this morning, thanking and praising you for allowing me to hear you voice, and desire to quickly take heed. Thank you for that.

Lord, in my life, go before me.

Make the darkness light, before me.

Prepare a table before me, even in the presence of my enemies.

Make every crooked path straight!

In the mighty name of Jesus!

And Standing At the Root of the Tree

And standing at the root of the tree was an axe, ready to cut down every part of vegetation that need not be there. I had let so many things grow that needed to go!

-And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire (Matthew 3:10).

It is important to always be ready to purge/ be purged. being ok with loosing parts of ‘you’ is difficult but imperative in order to be more like Christ.

– Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; (I Peter 2:11).

– Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him (I John 2:15).

– And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell (Matthew 5:29).

All in all, it’ll be worth it, because we are intentionally remembering that doing so will push us closer to who God has purposed us to be. 🙂
