I have had many jobs in sales. I remember that, at the point of sale, it was important to get the customer to add an additional item to their purchase. In many instances, I’d make more commission on the add-on than the original item they wanted.
Today, when there are many things that are coming against the Kingdom of the Most High God, the people of God need to be careful not to add on anything to what said.
This is very important because we need to follow God’s word, not think of it as being overly complicated, or unsurmountable. Even as I blog, I need to remember this, so really hits home, frfr.
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deu 4:2.
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Rev. 22:19
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
II Corinthians
Remember this story?
God speaks to Adam and gives him instructions.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 2:16-17
—
Meanwhile, Adams communicates this (or this with additional wording, to Eve)
Later:
—
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Genesis 3:2-6
Eve was mindful about the touching of the fruit… she touched it:
She saw that it was ‘good for food’
She saw that it was pleasant for the eyes
She saw that it was a tree to be desired to make one wise
She took it
She ate it.
Rather than focus on what God said, Thou shalt not eat of it.
there was an additional detail, touching it.
Because of this, her focus was derailed.
